The lights are low, the evening's gone
The waiter's bringing trays
The party's over, yet we still remain

The summer warmth has turned to chill
A cool breeze moves your hair
The party's over. Why are we still there?

Though years have passed
We're still the same
Lovers yet, in all but name
And though we'll have
To leave in time
There's still some left
For one last wine

The lights are low, the evening's gone
You're smiling just the same
The party's over, yet we still remain

5. The Party's Over
(McGowan) This is one of the few songs I wrote that are in standard tuning. Kind of sad I suppose - a late night meditation of the existentialistic nature of the human condition. Mark did the strings at the end rather well - and provides a fine bass throughout. -- Davy

I have also a song with the same name somewhere in the Mescaline Smugglers' catalogue but this one is much better. One of the most sensitive songs by Davy. He should be world famous! But shouldn't we all? Maybe not. -- Jore
